STREET CLOSURES FOR FEB. 17 SLED DOG RACES

The following streets will be closed to motor vehicles starting at the following times for the
Annual U.P. 200 & Midnight Run Dog Sled Races to be held Friday, Feb. 17.
Thursday, Feb. 16
10:30 p.m. – Washington Street from Front Street to Lakeshore Boulevard
Friday, February 17
7 a.m. – Washington Street from Front Street to Fifth Street
9 a.m. – Fourth Street from Spring Street to Bluff Street
1 p.m. – Lakeshore Boulevard from Mattson Park to Baraga Avenue
5 p.m. – Lakeshore Boulevard from Baraga Avenue to U.S. 41
5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. – Northbound lane of South Lake Street from U.S. 41 to Hampton Street
5:15 p.m. – Front Street from Baraga Avenue to Bluff Street
5:45 p.m. – Third Street from Spring Street to Bluff Street
The detour route will use Baraga Avenue, Fifth Street and Bluff Street.
Unless otherwise noted, the street closures will remain in effect until 2 a.m. on Saturday, Feb.
18.
Pedestrian access will be allowed all days throughout all the street closure areas.

A work session has been scheduled for Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. between the City Commission and Planning Commission to discuss the recommended Land Development Code (LDC) amendments regarding recreational marijuana licenses. The City Commission approved an ordinance in October allowing recreational licenses in the City and the Planning Commission has held four work sessions to discuss how to accommodate these licenses into the LDC.

The Planning Commission approved the recommendations after a public hearing held at their meeting on Jan. 7.
