21st ANNUAL ART AWARDS TO BE HELD MAY 20

The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center invites the community to attend the 21st
Annual Art Awards, honoring outstanding individuals in our community. The awards will
be held at the MACC in the lower level of the Peter White Public Library located at 217
N. Front St. on Saturday, May 20. The public is invited to a celebratory reception
beginning at 6 p.m. in conjunction with Lake Superior Art Association’s Annual Member
Show. Lite fare will be provided by Border Grill. At 7 p.m. the Annual Arts Awards will
begin in the Community Room of the library. There will be performances by select award
recipients and a ceremony to honor their achievements. This event is free and open to the
public with a “black and white” suggested dress code to match the atmosphere of the
Annual Art Awards.

Construction at Founders Landing has started for the new pier project. Effective immediately, the boardwalk at Founders Landing and the City multi-use path between Spring Street and the trail intersection near the Lakeshore Boulevard and US 41 intersection will be closed to through traffic. The closure is required to accommodate construction work on the City South Pier project and for building construction at the Two Marquette Place development.Multi-use path traffic will be detoured around this area by means of the sidewalk along Front Street/US 41. The closure and detour are expected to remain in effect until the end of the 2021 construction season.The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.
