ADDITIONAL JAPAN TRIP DELEGATES SOUGHT

Marquette area residents interested in visiting Marquette’s Japanese Sister City of Higashiomi this
year should contact Paulette Lindberg, Vice Chair of the Marquette Area Sister Cities Partnership or
stop by the Marquette Arts and Culture Center in the lower level of the Peter White Public Library
for a paper application. There are five additional spaces for the trip that can still be reserved.
The delegation will depart from Marquette on Oct. 26 for a 10-night visit, returning on Nov. 6. This
is the 38th year of Marquette’s Sister City relationship with Japan. The trip cost is $2,600.
A meeting to help educate future delegates and prepare them for travel to Japan will occur on May 13
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras Room.

A work session has been scheduled for Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. between the City Commission and Planning Commission to discuss the recommended Land Development Code (LDC) amendments regarding recreational marijuana licenses. The City Commission approved an ordinance in October allowing recreational licenses in the City and the Planning Commission has held four work sessions to discuss how to accommodate these licenses into the LDC.

The Planning Commission approved the recommendations after a public hearing held at their meeting on Jan. 7.
