The City of Marquette has been involved over the past few years with an ongoing traffic study for
the new hospital that will be constructed at 850 W. Baraga Ave. Upgrades will be required to the
U.S. 41 corridor, as well to the local streets that will service this new hospital. A temporary traffic
warrant has been issued by the City of Marquette Police Department to prohibit left-hand turns
off Baraga Avenue onto McClellan Avenue for vehicles turning south toward U.S. 41.
The intersection of McClellan Avenue and Washington Street, as well as the McClellan Avenue
corridor from Washington to U.S. 41, are being studied to provide mitigation measures for traffic
safety, turning movements, signal upgrades and other traffic related issues.
Beginning April 17, the “No Left Turn” traffic control will be active. This warrant will be in
effect until November to determine the safety improvements and guide the City’s Police and
Engineering staff and their consultant, DLZ of Michigan for permanent measures.
