The Marquette Hospital Transportation Improvements Project has gone through the bidding process and the City Commission at their April 10 regular meeting will consider approving
Bacco Construction Company for this project, as recommended by the City Manager and staff.

As part of the process the City will hold a public meet and greet event in the Commission
Chambers on April 12 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. This will give the public a chance to meet City and
contractor staff that will be instrumental in managing this project.

The project is anticipated to start in the next few weeks. The start will be based on the City
receiving all the documents required from the contractor to begin construction, as well as
securing purchase agreements for property acquisition. The project will be phased to minimize
disruptions to the public.

Weekly updates will be provided by the City on the project, and will focus on progress and
traffic changes and detours, as well as other areas of interest.

Beginning this spring and continuing until the fall of 2018, various areas in the City of
Marquette will experience traffic disruptions due to cleaning and televising of the City’s
sanitary and storm sewer mains. Upper Peninsula Rubber Co. will be performing the
work at various locations throughout the City of Marquette.

This project is being funded by a Storm Water, Asset Management and Wastewater grant
though the State of Michigan. Televising will be performed using state of the art 3D
video inspection equipment. Televising of these mains will provide the City of Marquette
condition ratings that will aid in the decision making for future asset management.

The public is advised to be aware and to follow all traffic controls. Work will be ongoing
until the fall of 2018.

Beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 7 and continuing through noon on Sunday, April 9, Spring
Street and the sidewalk will be closed between Front Street and Third Street for an event in front of
the Ore Dock Brewing Company.

No detour will be provided.

Egress from the MarqTran drive through and the Marquette History Museum will be available at the
west end of Spring Street.
