City Manager office hours scheduled for Dec. 13

Marquette City Manager Mike Angeli will hold his next community office hours on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon in the main floor conference room of the Peter White Public Library.

The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.

December Board of Review meeting scheduled

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Review, City of Marquette will meet on December 12, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall, Council Chambers, 300 W. Baraga Ave, Marquette, MI for the following purposes.

  1. An owner of property that is a “Principal Residence” on May 1 may appeal to the July Board of Review in the year for which an exemption was claimed or in the immediate succeeding 3 years if the exemption was not on the tax roll. For taxes levied after December 31, 2011, an owner who owned and occupied a principal residence on June 1 or November 1 for which the exemption was not on the tax roll may file an appeal with the July or December Board of Review in the year for which the exemption was claimed or in the immediate succeeding three years if the exemption was not on the tax roll. MCL 211.7cc(19)
  2. Request for current year only for poverty exemptions, but not poverty exemptions denied by the March Board of Review.
  3. Request for P.A. 161 of 2013 Disabled Veterans Exemption.
  4. Correct clerical errors or mutual mistake of facts.

    All required forms and documentation shall be received five days prior to said meeting.

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, Oberstar, Inc. will be proceeding with sanitary sewer lateral replacements on Third Street between Fisher Street and Mather Street. This
work will be done with intermediate road closures and the public is urged to use extreme caution and follow all warning signs and other traffic control measures. The work is expected to last less than one week for this phase of the project. Access to Mather Street will be available by means of Fourth Street.
