22nd Annual Art Awards – Request for Award Design Proposals

The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center (MACC) is seeking proposals from area artists for the design and fabrication of the 22nd Annual Art Awards. The Awards are the most prestigious honor conferred by the City on an individual artist, arts organization, business and arts patron, who have made an outstanding impact on arts and culture. The selected submission will design and fabricate ten identical awards to be presented at the ceremony and branded as the official award for the next several years.

The award proposal must be a three dimensional, free standing object easily handled by one person. Compensation for design and fabrication is $800. Artists must submit: resume or CV, concept for proposed design including, sketches and narrative description. Artist must also submit three images (prefer digital format on CD, thumb drive, or by email) that show the scope and breadth of their work.

Proposals are due by 5 p.m. on Friday Feb. 9, 2018. This is NOT a postmark deadline. Entries must be in the possession of the MACC by the deadline time and date. Late proposals will not be considered. Proposals may be submitted in person at the MACC, located in the lower level of the Peter White Public Library at 217 N. Front St. They will be accepted Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They can also be mailed to the Marquette Arts and Culture Center c/o Arts Award, 300 W. Baraga Ave., Marquette, MI 49855. Timeline PhotosJULY 27 CITY COMMISSION MEETING: PARTICIPATION DETAILS
Due to Executive Orders issued from the Office of the Governor, the July 27 City Commission meeting will be held without the public in physical attendance. The public is invited to view and participate in the meeting electronically.
The meeting will be streamed on Channel 191 and YouTube starting at 6 p.m. Please note that the livestreams may have at least a 20 second delay.

Public Participation
There will be two options for public participation in the meetings: phone conferencing or written comment. There will be two public comment periods during each meeting, one at the beginning and one at the end. Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address. Written comments will be limited to 500 words. Written comments can be submitted directly to shobbins@marquettemi.gov, written submissions will be accepted until 12 p.m. on Monday, July 27.
