Spring Street closing for April 14 event

Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 13 and continuing through noon on Sunday, April 15, Spring Street will be closed to motor vehicles between Front Street and Third Street for the annual Festival of the Angry Bear sponsored by the Ore Dock Brewing Company.

No detour will be provided.

Egress from the MarqTran drive through and the Marquette History Museum will be available at the west end of Spring Street.

April 14 march along Third Street

Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, there will be a March for Science on Third Street. The march will begin at the Berry Events Center at Third and Fair and proceed south on Third Street, ending at the intersection of Third & Washington.

The public is asked to be aware of the march and use alternative roads during that time.

DDA meeting rescheduled to April 26

The regular scheduled meeting for the Marquette Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Thursday, May 10, 2018 has been canceled due to a lack of quorum.
The meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 26, 2018, 7:30 a.m. Meetings are held at the DDA Offices, 203 South Front Street, Suite 1-B, Marquette, MI 49855

MSHS and NMU Homecoming Parades:

MSHS- Beginning at 5:30 P.M. and continuing through approximately 6:30 P.M. on Friday, September 21, the Marquette Senior High School will be holding their annual homecoming parade. The parade will begin at the Graveraet School, exit west east on Hewitt Avenue to Third Street, proceed north on Third Street to Magnetic Street, then west on Magnetic Street to Lincoln Avenue, then north on Lincoln Avenue to College Avenue, and then west to MSHS High School parking lot.

NMU- Beginning at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 22, 2018, Northern Michigan University will be holding their annual homecoming parade. The following streets will be closed to thru traffic for the parade with a Police escort and will be re opened at 2:30 p.m.:
Pine Street from Lakeshore to Fair Avenue
Fair Avenue from Pine to Third Street
Third Street from Fair Avenue to Hewitt Avenue
Hewitt Avenue from Third Street to Front Street
Front Street from Hewitt Avenue to Fair Avenue

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, Lakeshore Boulevard from Baraga Avenue to Front Street (U.S. 41) will be closed to through traffic.

This closure is required for the East Baraga Extension project for water main related work. It is anticipated that this work will be completed later that same day and the road will again be open to through traffic.

The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction, detour and advisory signing. Hebert Construction is the general contractor for this project.
