Portion of Spring Street closed for event

Beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 and continuing through noon on Sunday, Oct. 14, the Spring Street road and sidewalk will be closed between Front Street and Third Street for a concert event sponsored by NMU Arts and Entertainment.

No detour will be provided.

Access to the MarqTran drive through and the Marquette History Museum will be available at the west end of the Spring Street closure.

City Election Board meeting moved to 2 p.m.

The Oct. 23 meeting of the Marquette City Election Board, originally scheduled for 3 p.m., has been rescheduled and will now begin at 2 p.m. The meeting will take place in City Commission Chambers, located in City Hall at 300 W. Baraga Ave.

During this meeting, the board will conduct the public accuracy test for equipment to be used in the Nov. 6 General Election.

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, Oberstar, Inc. will be proceeding with sanitary sewer lateral replacements on Third Street between Fisher Street and Mather Street. This
work will be done with intermediate road closures and the public is urged to use extreme caution and follow all warning signs and other traffic control measures. The work is expected to last less than one week for this phase of the project. Access to Mather Street will be available by means of Fourth Street.
