Michael Kohler, Retirement

Michael Kohler II, Captain of Detectives in the Marquette Police Department, is retiring effective Aug. 4, after more than 26 years of service. Mike has an associate’s degree in Applied Science/Police Administration from Kirtland Community College and was hired as a Marquette City Police Officer in September of 1992. Prior to starting with the department, he had worked part-time as a Patrol Officer for West Branch City and as a Deputy Sheriff-Road Patrol for Arenac County Sheriff’s Department. Mike was promoted to Detective Corporal in 2008, Detective Sergeant in 2009, Detective Lieutenant in 2014 and Captain of Detectives in 2015. Mike’s last day in the office is July 25. A retirement party in his honor will be held in the Commission Chambers from 1-3 p.m. on July 25th.
