Work in City right-of-way prohibited

With the local asphalt plants shut down, contractors and homeowners are reminded that work in the City right-of-way that requires street pavement or curb removal and restoration is prohibited.
This restriction will remain in effect until the spring when the frost is out of the ground and the asphalt plants are operating.
This restriction will not apply to emergency repairs such as broken sewer and water lines.

Nov. 13 City Manager office hours planned

Marquette City Manager Mike Angeli will hold his next community office hours on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon in the main floor conference room of the Peter White Public Library. The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.

Rubbish and compost sites closing for season

The City of Marquette household rubbish drop-off site, located at 1415 Pioneer Road, will be open for the last day of the season, on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Compost site will be open Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 3 p.m. to dusk. This site will then be closed for the season.

An announcement will be issued when both sites reopen Spring 2020.

Veterans’ Day walk planned for Nov. 11

On Monday, Nov. 11, beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing through 11 a.m., a community Veterans’ Day Warrior Walk will be held.

The walk will start at the NMU Superior Dome, proceed south along Third Street, west on Washington Street, south on Fourth Street, west on Fisher Street and finish at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

The walk is to occur on City sidewalks and participants are to follow the rules of the road, however the public is asked to be aware of and be considerate toward people crossing the street.

Due to recent snow accumulations, the fall leaf pickup has been suspended, and no further leaf pickup will take place this year.
