City operations closing to the public

Due to Executive Order 2020-21, beginning Tuesday, March 24, all City facilities will be closed to the public. This includes City Hall, the Municipal Service Center, Fire Stations 1 and 2, the Police Department, Lakeview Arena, the Senior Center, the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the Water Treatment Plant. Presque Isle Park will be closed to vehicular traffic, however pedestrian traffic is still permissible. City announcements and Commission agendas will be sent to local media and will be available online.

City operations will continue, however the City will be operating at reduced staffing levels for the duration of the Executive Order and phone availability will be limited. To contact the City about essential business, please prioritize electronic communication when possible. Contact information for each City Department is available at www.marquettemi.gov/departments/.

All non-essential meetings and gatherings remain canceled. This includes meetings of all City statutory and advisory boards and committees scheduled between now and April 13, unless the meetings are critical in nature. If a meeting is deemed critical in nature, City announcements will be sent at that time. This does not apply to City Commission meetings. Instructions on how to view and participate in the March 30 City Commission meeting will be published later this week.

For emergency services, please dial 911. For non-emergency police assistance, please dial 906-228-0400. The Police Department will be evaluating non-emergency calls and will dispatch services accordingly.

Tonight marks the first "Marquette Moment" - at 6:30 PM each night, the City Commission is encouraging you to step outside your front door and take a moment to visually check in on your neighbors - wave, say hi, ask them how they're doing, etc. while continuing to comply with social distancing. We think this is a great way to safely look out for one another and decrease the sense of social isolation and loneliness that weeks of sheltering at home can foster in many of us (myself included). Please participate, share on social media, and let your friends and neighbors know about the Marquette Moment at 6:30 PM each night! ... See MoreSee Less
