Greg Kinonen, Promotion

Greg Kinonen, Detective Lieutenant, has been promoted to Detective Captain effective March 2, 2020. Greg is a graduate of Northern Michigan University’s regional police academy and he received an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Suomi College before being hired by the department as a patrol officer in October of 1997. In July of 2014 he was promoted into the Detective Bureau where he obtained the rank of Detective Sergeant in July of 2015 and Detective Lieutenant in November of 2015. Greg is replacing Mike Kohler who retired in July 2019.
