Oct. 1 BZA Meeting: Participation Details

The Board of Zoning Appeals meeting will be held virtually with Board members and Staff attending remotely through Zoom video conferencing. This meeting will be streamed on the City of Marquette YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/CityofMarquetteGov). Please note that the
livestreams will have at least a 20 second delay.

Public Participation
There will be three options for public participation in this meeting: video conferencing, phone conferencing, or written comment. There will be three public comment periods for the meeting, one at the beginning, one during the public hearing, and one at the end. Comments will be limited to three
minutes and speakers must give their name and address.

Members of the public wishing to make a video comment will need to visit
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85648384458. Members of the public wishing to call in and make a comment over the phone will need to call 312-626-6799 and enter the meeting ID (856 4838 4458).

When participating via video or phone conferencing, you will be placed into a virtual lobby/on-hold until the Public Comment portions of the meetings are reached. Once Public Comment begins, the Chair will go through each person waiting in the lobby one at a time and provide them with the opportunity to address the Board. It is recommended that participants follow the meeting on YouTube to know when the Public Comment portion is occurring and be ready to make their comment.

The video and phone conference lobby will open at 6:50 p.m. on October 1, 2020. Written comments can be submitted by emailing alanders@marquettemi.gov. Written submissions will be accepted until 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Sep. 28 City Commission Participation Details

Due to Executive Orders issued from the Office of the Governor, the September 28 City Commission meeting will be held without the public in physical attendance. The public is invited to view and
participate in the meeting electronically.

The meeting will be streamed on Channel 191 and YouTube starting at 6 p.m. The YouTube channel is located at www.youtube.com/user/CityofMarquetteGov. Please note that the livestreams may have at least a 20 second delay.

Public Participation
There will be two options for public participation in the meetings: phone conferencing or written comment. There will be two public comment periods during each meeting, one at the beginning and one at the end. Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address.

Danny Salmon, Senior Drafter/Engineering Technician II, has been promoted to Staff Engineer effective Sept. 14, 2020. Dan started with the City in July 2006 as an Engineering Technician and was promoted
in March 2009 to Senior Drafter/Engineering Technician II. Dan holds an associate degree in Computer Aided Design and has many years of experience in the field. Dan is replacing Kellen Wessels who was promoted to Assistant City Engineer effective July 1.

Poole, Linda Retirement 09 2020

Linda Poole, Retirement

Linda Poole, Deputy Treasurer, has announced her retirement effective September 30th. Linda started with the City in October 1986 as a part-time election clerk until becoming full-time Clerk in the Treasurer’s Office in July
of 1989. Linda was soon promoted to Deputy Treasurer in 1993. Linda was an active member of the MMTA (Michigan Municipal Treasurers Association) since 2003 and was recognized in 2017 for an outstanding
service and dedication award. After 34 years of public service we would like to wish Linda the best in her future endeavors.

PI Breakwall loop closed

On September 16, 2020 starting at 5 p.m., the Presque Isle breakwall loop will be closed to vehicle traffic. The road will be closed to extract a heavily damaged sailboat from near the breakwall. The extraction is expected to take several hours, and the road will be opened immediately upon completion.

Marquette Area Wastewater Treatment Advisory Board Meeting

Due to Executive Order 2020-21, the Sept. 17, 2020 Marquette Area Wastewater Treatment Advisory Board (MAWTAB) meeting will be held virtually with board members and staff attending remotely through Zoom video conferencing. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.

Public Participation

There will be three options for public participation in this meeting: video conferencing, phone conferencing or written comment.  Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address.  Written comments will be limited to 500 words.
