Christina Tyynismaa has successfully posted to the Assessing Technician position that will be vacant with Amanda Gerber’s promotion to Appraiser. Christina was hired by the City as a Customer Account Clerk/Cashier in March of 2015 and promoted to Utility Billing Clerk in July of 2016. Christina will be training to take over the duties of Assessing Technician officially on Nov. 23, 2020. Congratulations!

City and in 2008 promoted to Zoning/Code Enforcement Official. Amanda posted to the then newly created position of Assessing Assistant in the Community Development Department effective July 18, 2011 and
was later promoted to Assessing Technician in May of 2016. Amanda will take over the duties of Appraiser officially on Nov. 23, 2020. Congratulations!

Ellen Britton, Retirement

Ellen Britton, Appraiser, will be retiring officially on Nov. 23, 2020 after more than 29 years of service to the City of Marquette. Ellen was hired Sept. 3, 1991 as a Customer Billing Clerk in the Water Billing Department. Ellen was promoted to Administrative Assistant in the Public Works Department in 1998 and again promoted to Clerk in the Assessing Department in 2000. In 2003, Ellen promoted to Administrative Assistant in the Community Development Department and later transitioned to Accounts Payable Clerk in the Finance Department in July 2005. Ellen made her final departmental move in November 2005 when she promoted to the Level I Assessor’s position. Ellen promoted to her current position as Appraiser in July of

Robert McLaughlin, Retirement

Corporal Rob McLaughlin retired on Oct. 11, 2020 after 25 years of service to the Marquette Police Department. Cpl McLaughlin began his career as a police officer with Marquette in June of 1995 and later promoted to
corporal in August of 2007. Cpl McLaughlin served as team leader for three of his four-year appointment to the UPSET team and was awarded several professional awards over his career. Congratulations to Rob!

At 9:30, the parade will complete two laps through the harbor.
