December Board of Review Meeting: Participation Details Notice of Public Meeting

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Review, City of Marquette will meet on December 15, 2020 at 9 a.m. This meeting will be held virtually with board members and Staff attending remotely through Zoom video conferencing. All written correspondence should be sent to: Attn City Assessor, City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Ave, Marquette, MI 49855. This meeting is being held for the following purposes.

  1. An owner of property that is a “Principal Residence” on May 1 may appeal to the July Board of Review in the year for which an exemption was claimed or in the immediate succeeding 3 years if the exemption was not on the tax roll. For taxes levied after December 31, 2011, an owner who owned and occupied a principal residence on June 1 or November 1 for which the exemption was not on the tax roll may file an appeal with the July or December Board of Review in the year for which the exemption was claimed or in the immediate succeeding three years if the exemption was not on the tax roll. MCL 211.7cc(19)

2. Request for current year only for poverty exemptions, but not poverty exemptions denied by the March Board of Review.

3. Request for P.A. 161 of 2013 Disabled Veterans Exemption.

4. Correct clerical errors or mutual mistake of facts.


All required forms and documentation shall be received five days prior to said meeting.


This meeting will be streamed on the City of Marquette YouTube channel starting at 9 a.m. The YouTube channel is located at www.youtube.com/user/CityofMarquetteGov. Please note that the livestream will have at least a 20 second delay.


Public Participation


There will be three options for public participation in these meetings: video conferencing, phone conferencing or written comment. There will be one public comment period for the meeting at the beginning. Comments will be limited to three minutes. Written comments will be limited to 500 words.

Members of the public wishing to make a video comment will need to visit https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81672786345 on a computer or smart device that has a camera.


Members of the public wishing to call in and make a comment over the phone will need to call 312-626-6799 and enter the meeting ID (816 7278 6345).


When participating via video or phone conferencing, you will be placed into a virtual lobby/on-hold until the Public Comment portions of the meetings are reached. Once Public Comment begins, the Board of Review Chair will go through each person waiting in the lobby one at a time and provide them with the opportunity to address the Board. It is recommended that participants follow the meeting on YouTube to know when the Public Comment portion is occurring and be ready to make their comment.

The video and phone conference lobby will open at 8:59 a.m.


Written comments can be submitted to manderson@marquettemi.gov. Written submissions for the meeting will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020.
