February 2 Planning Commission Meeting: Participation

Due to directives from the State of Michigan, the February 2nd Planning Commission meeting will be held virtually without the public in physical attendance. The public is invited to view and participate in the meeting electronically.

The meeting will be streamed on YouTube starting at 5:15 p.m. The YouTube channel is located at www.marquettemi.gov/alternatestream. Please note that the livestreams may have at least a 20 second delay.

Public Participation

There will be two options for public participation in the meetings: phone conferencing or written comment.  There will be two public comment periods during each meeting, one for agenda items prior to the Old Business and New Business portions of the meeting, and one for non-agenda items after the Business portions of the meeting have been conducted. Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address.

Written comments should be limited to 500 words. Written comments can be submitted directly to dstensaas@marquettemi.gov and will be accepted until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2nd.

February 3 City Commission/Ad-Hoc Housing Committee Joint Work Session: Participation Details

Promotional Fund and Discount Fee Waiver Applications

The City of Marquette provides under City Code, Chapter 2 Administration, Division 3 Finance, Public Relations; Section 2-522 Policies and Procedures a mechanism for community stakeholders to submit for waiver of City fees and/or in-kind services provided by the City and/or cash payments. Requests for Promotional Funds may include grant funding, fee relief, provision of in-kind City services, cash or a combination of any or all of these items.

Applications for Fiscal Year 2021-2022, October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022, must be received or postmarked by March 31, 2021.  Any applications received or postmarked after this date will NOT be eligible for consideration.  It is important to note all applications may not be funded.  Funding will depend upon City priorities and available dollarsApplications and information are available on the City website at www.marquettemi.gov or at the Community Services, Parks & Recreation office located in Lakeview Arena at 401 E. Fourth St- Overhead Electrical Line Maintenance

Beginning at 7:00 A.M. Thursday, January 21st, 2021 the Northbound lane of 4th St between Rock St and Ridge St will be closed to traffic.


The maintenance project is estimated to last approximately 8 hours. For your safety and the safety of our employees and contractors, please do not approach crews while they are working. The tasks that they perform put them near energized equipment where the outmost focus and concentration is necessary.


We understand that our activities may cause an inconvenience and want to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation while we perform these modifications and upgrades.

Construction at Founders Landing has started for the new pier project. Effective immediately, the boardwalk at Founders Landing and the City multi-use path between Spring Street and the trail intersection near the Lakeshore Boulevard and US 41 intersection will be closed to through traffic. The closure is required to accommodate construction work on the City South Pier project and for building construction at the Two Marquette Place development.Multi-use path traffic will be detoured around this area by means of the sidewalk along Front Street/US 41.
