Ride with Pride Procession

On Saturday June 26, 2021 U.P. Rainbow Pride is holding a vehicle procession on City streets from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The planned route starts at the NMU PEIF parking lot, heads west on Fair Avenue towards Presque Isle, south on Presque Isle to Fourth, east on Washington, north on Lakeshore, west on Fair, south on Third, west on Baraga, north on Fourth to Presque Isle and ending at the NMU PEIF parking lot.

Participants are required to follow the rules of the road; however, the public is asked to be alert along the route.

Mount Marquette Road Closure

The Noquemanon Trail Network (NTN) will be hosting biking and running events Saturday June 26 and Sunday June 27 on trails crossing the Mount Marquette roadway.  The Mount Marquette roadway between M553 and Cliffs Power Road will be closed to vehicular traffic Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon for these events.

City of Marquette Offices Closed in Observance of Independence Day

City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; the Arts and Culture Center, 217 N. Front St. (in the Peter White Public Library); and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will close at 12 p.m.(Noon) on Friday, July 2, and will be closed on Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day.  Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities will remain operational during this time.

There will be no change in garbage pickup for City residents.

Fair Avenue Closure Between Lynn Avenue and Lincoln Avenue

Fair Avenue between Lynn Avenue and Lincoln Avenue will be closed to traffic, and Birch Avenue between Waldo Street and Fair Avenue will be closed to through traffic Monday June 21, 2021 through Wednesday June 23, 2021. Smith Construction will be replacing a sewer service for Marquette Senior High School. Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Lynne Avenue, Waldo Street and Lincoln Avenue. The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.   

June 21 Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting: Participation Details

The June 21, 2021 Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meeting will be held virtually at 5:30 p.m. with Committee members and Staff attending remotely through Zoom video conferencing.

Public Participation
There will be three options for public participation in this meeting: video conferencing, phone conferencing, or written comment. There will be one public comment period at the beginning part of the meeting.  Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address.

Members of the public wishing to call in and make a comment over the phone will need to call 312-626-6799 and enter the meeting ID (881 5877 6975).

The video and phone conference lobby will open at 5:20 p.m. on June 21, 2021. When participating via video or phone conferencing, you will be placed into a virtual lobby/on-hold until the Public Comment portion of the meeting is reached. Once Public Comment begins, the meeting organizer will go through each person waiting in the lobby one at a time and provide them with the opportunity to address the Committee.


Written comments can be submitted by emailing amaciver@marquettemi.gov. Written submissions will be accepted until 3 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021.

Third Street Closure Between Magnetic and College

Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 Third Street will be closed to through traffic between Magnetic Street and Kaye Avenue to accommodate utility replacement work at the intersection of Third Street and College Avenue.  This closure is expected to last 2 days.  Access to businesses and residences along Third Street will be provided throughout the closure.

A detour route will be provided.  The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction, detour, and advisory signing.   

The City of Marquette asks for your patience during the construction process. 

North Third Street Closure Between Arch and Michigan

Third Street between Arch Street and Michigan Street will be closed to traffic Thursday June 17, 2021. Oberstar Inc. will be paving the areas they have disturbed for water service work. Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Fourth Street. The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.   

Williams Park Construction

Construction at Williams Park for the athletic courts and accessible paths has started.  The tennis and basketball courts at Williams Park will be closed to the public until the project is complete. The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction. Ultra Construction, LLC is the general contractor for this project. The City of Marquette asks for your patience during the construction process.
