Suspicious Object – 200 block West Washington Street

On 06-15-2021, at approximately 0955 hrs, a suspicious object was located in the 200 block of West Washington Street. As a safety precautionary measure, a perimeter in the downtown area was secured and traffic was rerouted. Businesses in the immediate area were asked to evacuate as well until the area was deemed safe. The object was later determined to not be a threat and all traffic and businesses resumed to normal. Thank you to those assisting on scene, including Northern Michigan University Police Department, Michigan State Police, Marquette City Fire Department, and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department.
