Fair Avenue between Lynn Avenue and Lincoln Avenue will be closed to traffic, and Birch Avenue between Waldo Street and Fair Avenue will be closed to through traffic Tuesday August 17, 2021 for paving. The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.
The regular meeting of the City of Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board has been canceled for August 19, 2021 due to lack of a quorum. The next regular meeting of the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority is scheduled for August 26, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. at the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, Marquette, MI. 49855.
On Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Pine Street from Fair Avenue to Lakeshore Boulevard and Powder Mill Road from County Road 550 to the north end will be closed, and Wright Street from Presque Isle Avenue to Lakeshore Boulevard will be closed to thru traffic for the “Ore to Shore” Mountain Bike Race.
Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling on Wright Street, Hawley Street, River Park Circle and Schneider Mill Court. Race participants will be crossing at designated locations at varying times.
Beginning on Thursday, August 12, 2021, the 500 Block of W. Ridge St. will be closed to through traffic from Sixth St. to Seventh St. due to tree work. This closure will begin at 7:00 a.m. and continue until the repair is completed, anticipated by 2:00 p.m.
The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and be alert for advisory signs.
The regular meeting of the Marquette Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors will be held Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the Marquette Commons, 112 South Third Street. The meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m.
The Marquette City Planning Commission meetings scheduled for August 10 and August 17, 2021 have been canceled due to lack of business for the agenda.
The 300 block of Genesee Street will be closed to through traffic Friday, August 6 at 7 a.m. for tree work. The project is expected to be completed by end of day.
Curbside garbage and recycle collection are provided by Waste Management Inc. All refuse placed curbside must be in city approved prepaid bags or city approved carts. Bags need to be tied, not exceed 30 lbs., and limited to 5 bags per week. Carts are to be placed with the handle facing away from the street, the lid closed, 3 feet apart and not more than 3 feet from the road. Pickup begins at 10 p.m.
Recycle must be placed loose in a hard-walled container or recycle cart. Do not bag recycle. Styrofoam and plastic bags are not recyclable. Please visit www.recycle906.com to find out what can and cannot be recycled.
The Waste Management Transfer Station located at 910 W. Baraga will accept green bagged garbage and recycle at no charge once you provide your water bill showing the Solid Waste fee. A glass only dumpster is also available at that site.
