ADDITIONAL DATES FOR KIDS COVE ENCLOSURE PICKET RETURN

Pickets from the Kids Cove playground enclosure at Mattson Lower Harbor Park have been removed. Multiple pickets remain; therefore, additional dates have been established for pick up at Lakeview Arena Citizens Forum during the following times:

Friday, November 18, 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, November 19, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Saturday, November 26, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

If you sponsored a picket for the original enclosure constructed in 1996, your sponsored picket is available to you.  The effort to return pickets to original donors is made possible by City of Marquette Playgrounds for All Committee, Marquette Rotary Clubs and City of Marquette.

Marquette to Host Upper Peninsula Arts & Culture Alliance Reception and Meeting

The Upper Peninsula Arts and Culture Alliance will host their quarterly meeting and a public reception in Marquette on November 15-16, 2022.

On Tuesday, November 15 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., the public is invited to join representatives from the UPACA for a social reception at Café Bodega, 517 North Third St., including hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and live music by the McKenzie-Arquette Jazz Duo.

On Wednesday, November 16 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., the UPACA will host their quarterly board meeting at the City of Marquette Arts & Culture Center, located in the lower level of Peter White Public Library. This meeting is also free and open to the public, and a great opportunity for the community to engage with ongoing initiatives including the U.P. Artist Directory, U.P.-wide arts and culture economic impact study, and more.

Established in 2016, the Upper Peninsula Arts and Culture Alliance is a 15-county affinity group comprised of artisans and art organizations, historians and culture bearers, as well as allies in related sectors such as tourism and recreation, local and regional government, and economic development. The goals of the Alliance are to improve the visibility, connectivity, and sustainability of the arts and culture sector as part of the broader fabric of regional Upper Peninsula development. For more information on the UPACA, visit www.upacalliance.com.

For additional questions and information please contact the City of Marquette Office of Arts & Culture at 906-228-0472 or arts-culture@marquettemi.gov.
