The City of Marquette invites all people who live, work, learn, and play in Marquette to attend a community open house on February 15, 2023 from 4- 7 p.m. at the NMU Northern Event and Center Services located at 1401 Presque Isle Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855.

This is the first open house held for the master plan project and builds on the recently completed community online survey which garnered over 3,600 responses. The open house will include a summary of these responses, along with a series of activities for attendees to participate in, that will dive deeper into topics like development, transportation, and neighborhood quality of life in Marquette. Refreshments and coloring activities for kids will be provided.

Open house attendees are welcome to arrive anytime between 4-7 p.m. on February 15 and may choose to spend as little or as much time at the event as they wish, interacting with each station at their own pace.

The project team is also providing an online survey shortly after the event, with similar content as provided at the open house, to reach folks who cannot attend in-person. Some activities might not translate perfectly from event to online survey, so folks are encouraged to drop by the open house if their schedule allows.

City staff, members of the master plan steering team, and members of the consultant team will be on hand at the open house to greet attendees, answer questions, and seek input. “We are excited to build on our incredible survey response and dig deeper into important topics with the community at the open house,” says Dennis Stachewicz, Director of Community Development with the City of Marquette. “Your participation is the most important aspect of this master plan process.”

The community is encouraged to sign up for project updates (including personal invitations to events like this open house) at the project website at www.marquettemasterplan.org
