Winter Light Festival

The City of Marquette announces the Winter Light Festival, running from December 1 to December 31, 2024. This month-long celebration will fill the holiday season with light, art, and community events for all ages. A highlight of the festival is Oscillation, a new interactive art installation to be located at the Marquette Commons that combines light, sound, and movement, offering a unique, engaging experience for everyone. Other partner-hosted attractions include the Holiday Lasers on the Ore Dock, Downtown District Lights, Downtown Holiday Parade, City Tree Lighting, the Downtown Farmers Market’s new Yule Market, and many more community hosted events.

Community members are invited to add their own winter light-inspired events to the festival lineup by submitting them on MQTcompass.com.

The Winter Light Festival is presented by the Marquette Downtown Development Authority, Travel Marquette, and the City of Marquette. Oscillation is brought to Marquette by the City of Marquette Public Art Commission, with support from Travel Marquette and the Marquette Downtown Development Authority. Oscillation was created by The Urban Conga and tour produced by Creos.

Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Heritage Room, on the top level of Peter White Public Library. Special Note: We want to hear from you! The City of Marquette is transitioning to a cart-only system for all solid waste and recycling. This critical city service will be more efficient and safer with the new system. Before this change goes into effect during Summer 2025, we want to hear from you! Attend the upcoming City Manager Office Hours and share your feedback with us. Whether the change is one you welcome or you have questions, please share. Our goal is to understand what residents may have questions on related to this change, and do what we can to make the shift as successful as possible for all. Can’t attend office hours? Be on the lookout for additional opportunities to provide feedback on the upcoming changes. ... See MoreSee Less
