The offices of the Marquette Board of Light & Power will be closed on Tuesday, December 24th, 2024 and Wednesday, December 25th in observance of the Christmas Holiday.
City of Marquette Offices Closed for Holidays
City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; the Arts and Culture Center, 217 N. Front Street (in the Peter White Public Library); and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will be closed for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays on the following days:
- Tuesday, Dec. 24
- Wednesday, Dec. 25
- Tuesday, Dec. 31
- Wednesday, Jan. 1
Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities will remain operational during this time.
There will be no change in garbage pickup for City residents.
Traffic & Parking Advisory Committee December 17 Meeting Canceled
The Traffic & Parking Committee Advisory (TPAC) meeting regularly scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. has been canceled. The next TPAC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in Room #103 in the lower level of City Hall.

Due to snow cover, the curbside brush collection & leaf has been postponed by two weeks. ![]()
Brush will be collected May 5 - May 9. The brush volume from each property is limited to one pickup load, a pile approx. 12’L x 6’W x 5’H. ![]()
Crews will collect loose or brown bagged leaves May 12 – May 23. For Spring leaf collection, each home will only have one pass!![]()

Important update related to garbage collection changes and purchasing pink garbage stickers:![]()

If your household purchases Waste Management pink garbage stickers for curbside garbage collection, please note that these stickers will no longer be sold in retail stores in Marquette. If you would like to purchase these stickers, you may do so at the Waste Management Transfer Station, located at 910 W Baraga Ave, during their hours of operation, 9:30am-11:00am, 11:30-3:00pm Monday through Friday. ![]()

Additionally, the City of Marquette is changing to a cart-only system for all solid waste and recycling pickup. This critical city service will be more efficient and safer with the new system. Households that do not currently have a cart for solid waste collection can expect to receive their 64-gallon cart in Summer 2025. Once all carts have been distributed, pink garbage stickers will no longer be accepted for curbside garbage collection, however; they will still be accepted when disposing at the transfer station.![]()

NOTE: You must submit your cart order request prior to Friday, May 2 in order to receive your cart before distribution this summer. Given the large influx of recent cart orders, it may take approximately two weeks to receive your garbage cart. Thank you for your patience as we process these orders.![]()

Upon distribution this summer, you will receive as many carts as there are housing units on your property. If you would like to receive a different number of carts than your number of units, you must submit your cart order by May 2. Or, there will be an opportunity to modify the cart order of your residence in the fall.![]()
