Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, work will begin on a Coastal Restoration project located near the intersection of Lakeshore Boulevard and Pine Street.
This project includes removal of portions of the abandoned Lakeshore Boulevard roadway, dune restoration, coastal wetland construction, enhanced public beach access and a variety of native coastal plantings. The project is expected to be completed by mid-June.
The roadways and multi-use path located near the project will remain open throughout the duration of the project with the exception of short-term disruptions to load and unload materials and equipment.
Smith Construction is the general contractor for this project.
The City of Marquette asks for your patience during the construction process and to use caution and pay attention to construction signage while traveling through construction area.
Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022, work will begin on a City-wide sidewalk repair and extension project.
This project will include replacement of various sidewalk squares throughout the City along with an extension of sidewalk on the south side of Wright Street between the Lakeshore Boulevard Roundabout and Presque Isle Avenue. The project is expected to last two weeks.
A lane shift will be utilized for the Wright Street sidewalk extension portion of this project. The traveling public should experience minimal disruptions at all other locations. Sidewalk removal areas will be clearly marked with construction cones to warn pedestrians.
Arrow Construction is the general contractor for this project.

The City of Marquette is hosting Art Week 2022 on Monday June 20- Saturday June 25. Events will occur primarily along the lakeshore trail and in the shoreline public parks. The 2022 theme is WATER.

S 4th St and S 5th St will be closed. A detour will be set up during the closure utilizing Rock St.

City of Marquette athletic fields remain closed due to melting snow, dormant grass and soft turf. Please do not use City soccer fields or ball fields to avoid further damage. Kaufman fields and parking are closed. An announcement will be made when athletic fields are open for use.
The Marquette City Planning Commission meeting originally scheduled for April 5, 2022 has been moved to April 12 due to the coincidence with the Spring Break week in the Marquette Area Public Schools district.
SPRING STREET CLOSURE – FRONT STREET TO THIRD STREET
Beginning at 5:00 p.m., Friday, April 8 and continuing through 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, Spring Street will be closed to motor vehicles between Front Street and Third Street for the Festival of the Angry Bear sponsored by the Ore Dock Brewing Company.
Egress from the MarqTran drive through and the Marquette History Museum will be available at the west end of Spring Street.
The City of Marquette Office of Arts & Culture invites artists of all ages to submit their original, water-themed artwork to be featured on the cover of the Art Week event booklet. Art Week 2022 will be held June 20-25.
A public contest will be held to determine the artwork featured on the cover of the City of Marquette Art Week 2022 Booklet. Submission deadline is Friday April 22, 2022. All submissions will be uploaded as a virtual exhibit hosted on the MQTcompass.com website. The winning artist will receive a $100 artist stipend and featured prominently in the Art Week promotions. The winning artwork will be chosen by popular choice via a public online voting poll activated once all submissions are available for viewing. All submissions should be inspired by the Art Week 2022 theme: Water.
