Aug. 20 MBRA meeting: participation details

Due to Executive Orders issued from the Office of the Governor, the Aug. 20 MBRA meeting will be held virtually with Board Members and Staff attending remotely through Zoom video conferencing.
The meeting will be streamed on the City of Marquette YouTube channel starting at 8 a.m. The YouTube channel is located at www.youtube.com/user/CityofMarquetteGov. Please note that the livestream will have at least a 20 second delay.

Public Participation
There will be three options for public participation in these meetings: video conferencing, phone conferencing or written comment. There will be two public comment periods for each meeting, one at the beginning and one at the end. Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address. Written comments will be limited to 500 words.

Once Public Comment begins, the MBRA Director will go through each person waiting in the lobby one at a time and provide them with the opportunity to address the Commission. It is recommended that participants follow the meeting on YouTube to know when the Public Comment portion is occurring and be ready to make their comment.

Special City Commission meeting: Participation details

The meeting will be streamed on YouTube starting at 4:15 p.m. The YouTube channel is located at www.youtube.com/user/CityofMarquetteGov. Please note that the livestreams may have at least a 20 second delay.
Public Participation
There will be two options for public participation in the meetings: phone conferencing or written comment. There will be two public comment periods during each meeting, one at the beginning and one at the end. Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address.

City budget meeting schedule and participation details

The City of Marquette’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2021 is now available online at www.marquettemi.gov/budget. Hard copies will be available at the City Clerk’s office in City Hall, at 300 W. Baraga Avenue. To schedule an opportunity to view a hard copy, please call 906-225-8657 and schedule an appointment.

Four special meetings of the City Commission have been scheduled in order to discuss the budget. The meetings will be held during the following dates and times:

  • August 12, 2020
  • August 17, 2020
  • August 19, 2020
  • August 24, 2020

All meetings will begin at 5:15 p.m., with the Commission and some staff physically present in Commission Chambers at City Hall.

The Aug. 11 Planning Commission meeting will be held virtually with Commission members and Staff attending remotely through Zoom video conferencing. The only agenda item for the meeting is a work session on potential amendments to the Land Development Code.

City Manager office hours canceled for August

Marquette City Manager community office hours on Wednesday, Aug. 12, has been canceled. The next community office hours will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Dandelion Cottage room, located on the first floor off the Huron Mountain Gallery of the Peter White Public Library.

August 6 BZA Meeting: Participation Details

The August 6 Board of Zoning Appeals meeting will be held remotely, with Board and Staff attending remotely through Zoom video conferencing.
