Animal License Application

Dog/Cat Licensing Overview

Michigan law requires that all dogs over the age of 4 months be registered with the local County Treasurer. For City of Marquette residents, this license can be obtained from the City Clerk's Office, either via this form or in person at 300 West Baraga Avenue.

Similarly, Marquette City Code also requires all cats over the age of 6 months to be licensed with the City Clerk. Again, this license can be obtained from the City Clerk's Office, either via this form or in person at 300 West Baraga Avenue.

License Requirements

  • If a dog is spayed or neutered, the cost of a license is $8 for a single year or $20 for up to 3 years. For dogs that are not spayed or neutered, this cost is $16 for a single year or $40 for a license of up to three years.
  • Cat licenses are only issued as single-year licenses and cost $8 if the animal is spayed or neutered animal, and $16 if they are not.
