Marquette DDA Board District Tour

The Marquette Downtown Development Authority Board will be participating in a tour of infrastructure in need of repairs in Downtown Marquette. No official business of the DDA will be conducted.  The tour will begin on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. departing from Marquette Commons, 112 S. Third St.

Queen City Half Marathon

Queen City Running is hosting a half marathon Saturday July 30, 2022.

Spring Street between Third Street and Front Street will be closed from 5:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m.

Spring Street from Front Street through Lakeshore Boulevard will also be closed, and Lakeshore Boulevard and Front Street will both be closed to through traffic between Main Street and Baraga Avenue from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

The course heads south on the city multiuse path, turns around near South Beach Park and continues north following the path to Presque Isle Park. Runners will run around Peter White Drive and return on the path, head west on Hawley street following the path to Wright Street, then Washington Street and back to the finish area on Spring Street.

Motorists are advised to use caution at road crossings and to be alert for runners and road crossing attendants.

Wilson Street Closure to Through Traffic

Starting Wednesday, August 3, Smith Construction will be closing a section of Wilson Street near US41 for utility work. Wilson Street will be closed to through traffic between US41 and McClellan Avenue. The work will occur just south of the entrance for the Holiday Inn. A detour route will be posted via US41 and McClellan Avenue. Access will be maintained to all residences and businesses. The work is anticipated to last through Thursday, August 4. Additional intermittent closures will be required in the future.

The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.

Annual Blueberry Festival

The following streets will be closed to traffic on Friday, July 29, 2022, from 6:00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. for the Blueberry Festival:

Washington Street from Third Street to Front Street

Front Street from Washington Street to Spring Street

The following streets will be closed to through traffic:

Front Street from Bluff Street to Washington Street

Main Street from Third Street to Lakeshore Boulevard

Front Street from Baraga Avenue to Spring Street

Traffic will be detoured using Baraga Avenue and Third Street.

To ensure no cars are parked in the event area and allow for vendor set-up Friday morning, parking will be prohibited on the 100 block of West Washington and the 100 and 200 blocks of South Front Street after 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28.

July DDA Special Meeting Announcement

The Marquette Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors will be holding a special meeting on Thursday, July 28, 2022, to review the proposed Fiscal Year 2023 budget. The special meeting will
take place at the Marquette Commons, 112 South Third Street, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Call for Artists - MRHC Holiday Art Sale

The Marquette Regional History Center, in cooperation with the City of Marquette Arts & Culture
Center, is excited to announce the 2022 Holiday Art Sale, to be held on Saturday, November 12 from
10:00am-4:00pm. The sale will take place at the Marquette Regional History Center. The History Center
is a destination, providing holiday shoppers with access to world-class exhibits, an old-fashioned bake
sale, the History Center gift shop in addition to the Sale. Booth rentals and $2.00 admission fee support
the MRHC, a private, non-profit 501c3 organization.


Interested Artists should apply by filling out and mailing or dropping off an entry form to Marquette
Regional History Center, 145 W Spring Street, Marquette, MI 49855. Entry forms can also be picked up
at the MRHC or the City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center (lower level of the Peter White Public
Library). Applications will be juried by the Lake Superior Art Association and artists will be notified of
acceptance by September 26. Applications are due Monday, September 19.
