On Saturday, September 30, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Northern Michigan University will be hosting a run utilizing the multi-use path and crossing City streets.
The run starts at the trailhead on the NMU campus and heads north to the roundabout at Wright Street and Sugarloaf Avenue, north along the multi-use path to the tourist park entrance road (Powdermill Road), through Tourist Park to the Dead River Bridge, under the bridge to the North County and NTN Trails and returning to the start following the same route.
No roads will be closed; however, motorists are asked to take caution in this area and to be alert for runners crossing the street.
On Wednesday September 27th, between 8:00am and 4:00pm residents on West Magnetic Street between Lee Street and Seventh Street will experience short, intermittent water service interruptions.
These brief shut offs are required for water service abandonments at the former hospital site.
Restrooms at Mattson Lower Harbor Park will be closed September 25 to October 3for construction power decommissioning. There will be no power to the park during this period. Power and restroom access will be restored on Wednesday, October 4.
Public bathrooms at Cinder Pond Marina will be available for use during the closure.
The southbound lane of Front Street between Main Street and Spring Street will be closed Friday, September 29, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Southbound traffic will be detoured around the closure via Main Street, Third Street, and Baraga Avenue. Northbound traffic on Front Street will remain unaffected.
The public is advised to take caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.
The City of Marquette is excited to announce city arts and culture organizations who were awarded grants from the Michigan Arts & Culture Council. On Friday, September 22, the Council announced that a total of $209,712 was awarded to organizations in Marquette County. The City of Marquette received a grant for $17,360 in support of Art Week 2024, which will be regranted to support partner artists and organizations as well as assist with overhead expenses.

Lakeview Drive will be partially closed for a sewer lateral repair on Tuesday, September 26 beginning at 7:00 a.m. This project is expected to be completed by the end of the day.
Beginning Monday September 25 Magnetic Street between Seventh Street and Hebard Court will be closed to through traffic for water service abandonment work at the former hospital site. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the week. Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Park Street.

Moving forward, City of Marquette voters will be able to utilize an early voting center in the lead-up to each election in the City.
The City Commission in August established the Peter White Public Library, located at 217 N. Front Street, as the early voting site for City of Maquette voters. In the coming days, registered voters in the city will begin to receive a notice in the mail notifying them of the new early voting option.
While early voting will begin statewide next year, the City of Marquette will be conducting an early voting pilot – in partnership with the State of Michigan – for the November 7, 2023 election. Early voting for November will be available at the Peter White Public Library from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 2-5.

On Friday, September 22, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and continuing through approximately 6:30 p.m., the Marquette Senior High School will be holding their annual homecoming parade.
The parade will begin at the Graveraet School, exit west east on Hewitt Avenue to Third Street, proceed north on Third Street to Magnetic Street, then west on Magnetic Street to Lincoln Avenue, then north on Lincoln Avenue to College Avenue, and then west to MSHS High School parking lot.
