Partial Lakeshore Boulevard Closure

Lakeshore Boulevard will be closed to through traffic between East Washington Street and East Ridge Street on Thursday, March 28. This closure will begin at 7 a.m. and is expected to be completed by the end of the day. A detour will be provided.

City of Marquette Offices Closed for Good Friday

City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; the Arts and Culture Center, 217 N. Front St. (in the Peter White Public Library); and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will be closed on Friday, March 29, in observance of Good Friday.  Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities will remain operational during this time. 

There will be no change in garbage pickup for City residents.

Seasonal Launch Permits

Beginning March 19, 2024, the City of Marquette will require all boaters to obtain a launch permit to launch a boat at either Cinder Pond or Presque Isle Marinas.

Seasonal launch permits are now available for purchase at Lakeview Arena Parks & Recreation office, located at 401 E. Fair Avenue, the City of Marquette’s Treasurer’s office located at 300 W. Baraga Avenue.  Seasonal launch permits will also be available at Cinder Pond Marina office beginning May 6, 2024.  The cost is $70.00 per seasonal launch permit, and $20.00 for an additional launch permit (restrictions apply).

Daily launch permits are $7.00 and are available in the red launch boxes located at Cinder Pond and Presque Isle Marinas.

MBRA Meeting Canceled

The regular meeting of the City of Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board has been cancelled for March 20, 20224 due to a lack of agenda items. The meetings are held at 8:00 a.m. at the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, Marquette, MI. 49855 on the third Wednesday of each month.

City Arts and Culture Advisory Committee Special Meeting Scheduled for March 14

The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Advisory Committee will hold a special meeting to discuss 2024 Art Week project proposals on Thursday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m.

All meetings take place in the City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center, located in the lower level of Peter White Public Library, 217 N. Front Street.

Presque Isle Park Road Closure for Salamander Migration

In cooperation with the Superior Watershed Partnership and Northern Michigan University Biology Department, the City of Marquette will be closing a portion of Peter White Drive in Presque Isle Park to facilitate the safe migration of the blue-spotted salamander.

The southwest bend of Peter White Drive from the Ice Cream Store Pavilion to the gate north of the pavilion will close to vehicular traffic daily at 8:00 p.m. from March 15 to May 15 or until the completion of the migration.  Road barricades will be placed and removed daily to prevent vehicular traffic use of the migration area.  Foot traffic is permitted in the area during regular park hours.

Make sure your garbage and recycling carts get picked up by following these steps! ✅ Place your cart at least three feet apart from each other and any other objects (e.g. trees, cars, mailboxes) to allow the automated arm on Waste Management trucks to lift carts✅ Place wheels and handle of the cart toward the house✅ Make sure your cart is curbside by 10:00pm on your collection night✅ All materials must fit inside the cart with the lid firmly closed ✅ During winter months, carts should be placed in a driveway opening or some other established opening in the snow bank at ground level. Carts on top of a snowbank will not be collected.Proper cart placement following these steps is critical for Waste Management to pick up your carts.
