The City of Marquette Office of Arts & Culture invites artists of all ages to submit their original, water-themed artwork to be featured on the cover of the Art Week event booklet. Art Week 2022 will be held June 20-25.
A public contest will be held to determine the artwork featured on the cover of the City of Marquette Art Week 2022 Booklet. Submission deadline is Friday April 22, 2022. All submissions will be uploaded as a virtual exhibit hosted on the MQTcompass.com website. The winning artist will receive a $100 artist stipend and featured prominently in the Art Week promotions. The winning artwork will be chosen by popular choice via a public online voting poll activated once all submissions are available for viewing. All submissions should be inspired by the Art Week 2022 theme: Water.

The March 22, 2022 meeting of the MBLP is being rescheduled for a later date, due to a lack of quorum.
In cooperation with the Superior Watershed Partnership and Northern Michigan University Biology Department, the City of Marquette will be closing a portion of Peter White Drive in Presque Isle Park to facilitate the safe migration of the blue-spotted salamander.
The southwest bend of Peter White Drive, from Moosewood Nature Center to the gate north of the pavilion, will close to vehicular traffic daily at 8 p.m. from March 21 to April 30, or until the completion of the migration. Road barricades will be placed and removed daily to prevent vehicular traffic use of the migration area. Foot traffic is permitted in the area during regular park hours.

Arts and Culture Alliance Board Meeting, the Michigan Arts and Culture Council grant training workshop, and the UPACA public reception all held at the Delta County Chamber of Commerce. The Harbor Advisory Committee (HAC) meeting scheduled for March 15, has been canceled due to lack of agenda. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be April 12.
The 2022 Marina Seasonal Slip Agreements have been mailed to the 2021 seasonal slip holders on March 11, 2022. Payments will be accepted March 15, through April 15 at the Community Services Parks and Recreation Office, located at Lakeview Arena.
Beginning March 15, the City of Marquette will require all boaters to obtain a launch permit to launch a boat at either Cinder Pond or Presque Isle Marina.
Seasonal launch permits are available for purchase at Lakeview Arena Parks & Recreation office, located at 401 E. Fair Avenue, the City of Marquette’s Treasurer’s office located at 300 W. Baraga Avenue. Seasonal launch permits will also be available at Cinder Pond Marina office beginning May 9. The cost is $60.00 per seasonal launch permit, and $15.00 for an additional launch permit (restrictions apply).
Daily launch permits are $6.00 and are available in the red launch boxes located at Cinder Pond and Presque Isle Marina.
