Art Week 2023 Events Announced

The City of Marquette proudly presents the 2023 City of Marquette Art Week, June 19 to June 24. This annual event brings together local artists, organizations, and businesses for a week-long celebration of arts and culture. All events are FREE and FAMILY FRIENDLY. This year, the Art Week theme is "Home," which draws inspiration from the ongoing Community Master Plan Update in the City of Marquette. The success of Art Week is made possible through collaboration with over 200 local artists, businesses, organizations, and community partners, and it receives generous support from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council.

Throughout the week, Art Week projects and events will explore the community's concept of "Home" and how arts and culture can help envision our future. The events will be held at various locations across the city, activating different neighborhoods and community spaces. Art Week features a range of highlighted events including an opening sunrise ceremony, the annual children's plein air painting at Lighthouse Park, musical performances and dancing at Hurley Park Ballfield, the Presque Isle Artist Market, the annual Fresh Coast Plein Air Painting Festival, performances by the Marquette City Band and local folk bands, children's art activities hosted by Liberty Children's Art Project, the Downtown Art Stroll and Wednesday Artist Market on Washington St. organized in partnership with the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), the Paint the Town with Love sidewalk chalk festival by the UP Children's Museum, Cultural Conversations facilitated by local community leaders, and a Closing Concert by MSO Summer Strings featuring local composers and pieces inspired by Marquette. Additionally, the week will offer numerous popup artist demos, workshops, music performances, installations, and exhibits.

Pick up an Art Week magazine at the Marquette Arts & Culture Center, City Hall, Travel Marquette, or the DDA.
