Presque Isle Avenue Closure - Kaye to College

On Saturday June 17, 2023, Presque Isle Avenue between Kaye Avenue and College Avenue will be closed to traffic for the “Care Clinic Life Walk” from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Traffic will be detoured via Kaye Avenue, Third Street and College Avenue.

Motorists are asked to take caution when travelling in the area.

Portion of Grove Street Closed

Grove Street between Forest Park Drive and Homestead Street, will be closed to through traffic for paving, beginning at 7:00 a.m. This project is expected to be completed by the end of the day. A detour will be provided.

Closure of Presque Isle Marina Parking Lot

The Presque Isle Marina parking lot will be closed for a resurfacing project beginning Wednesday, June 14.  The project should be completed in roughly 10 days, weather permitting.  Work will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., seven days a week to expedite completion.

Visitors may utilize nearby parking lots during the time of marina parking lot closure, avoiding the launch ramp parking.

Street Disruptions Due to Milling and Paving Activities

As part of an ongoing City Street Improvement Project, Payne & Dolan, Inc. will begin asphalt resurfacing on Friday, June 16, 2023.  This process involves milling the existing asphalt surfaces followed by repaving.  The following streets are included in this project: 

  • Lakeshore Boulevard – Ridge to Michigan
  • Magnetic Street – Seventh to Eighth
  • Michigan Street – High to Spruce
  • Lincoln Avenue – Bluff to Jefferson
  • Longyear Avenue – Wright to Union
  • Fourth Street – Washington to Arch
  • Division Street – Hampton to Joliet (patching)
  • Altamont Street – Mesnard to Craig (patching)
  • Altamont Street – Blemhuber to Genesee (patching)
  • Fourth Street – Ohio to College (patching)
  • Intersection of Washington and Third (patching)

Milling is scheduled for Friday June 16 through Wednesday June 21.

Paving is scheduled for Monday June 26 through Friday June 30.

Work will occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (or as needed). Vehicular and pedestrian access to homes will be maintained. The work will be completed by means of short duration road closures, road detours, and flag control.  The public is urged to use extreme caution and follow all traffic control measures.

Marquette City Manager Community Office Hours

Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to noon in the main floor conference room of the Peter White Public Library.  The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.
