Applications are now available for City residents seeking appointment to the vacancy on the Marquette Board of Light and Power.
The applications can be found online at www.marquettemi.gov/blpapplication, and they can be picked up in person at the City Clerk’s Office and at the Marquette Police Department, both located at 300 W. Baraga Ave. The deadline for applications is 4 p.m. on Friday, November 24.
Under the Marquette City Charter, “vacancies in elective offices shall, within 60 days, be filled for the unexpired term of the officer whose office has become vacant, by appointment by a majority vote of the members of the city commission then in office of a person possessing the qualifications for the office”.
The regular meeting of the City of Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board has been canceled for November 16, 2023 due to a lack of agenda items. The meetings are held at 8:00 a.m. at the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, Marquette, MI. 49855 on the third Thursday of each month.

The Upper Peninsula Arts & Culture Alliance (UPACA) will host its Fall Reception and quarterly board meeting in Negaunee, Michigan, on November 14-15, 2023. The event features a public tour of Downtown Negaunee, a connection reception, and an alliance board meeting, all open to the public.
On November 14 at 5:00pm, a Public Tour of Downtown Negaunee will begin at Upper Peninsula Brewing Company (342 Rail St.), showcasing the city's rich culture and history. Following the tour, at 5:30pm, the UPACA Connection Receptionwill kick off back at Upper Peninsula Brewing Co., providing a networking platform for local officials, creatives, and cultural advocates.
The reception will also unveil the results from the Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 study. This study showcases the impact of nonprofit arts and culture organizations on both national and regional communities, as revealed through a U.P.-specific survey conducted by UPACA and its partners. Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, November 8 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Shiras Room, on the top level of Peter White Public Library (Front Street side). The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.

The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 2 at 5:30 p.m. will meet in the Peter White Public Library Lions Room (on the main level of PWPL)
The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Advisory Committee December meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the Marquette Arts & Culture Center Studio 2 (lower level of PWPL).
The A&C Advisory Committee will approve the 2024 meeting schedule at the upcoming November meeting and dates will be publicized upon approval.
