Picnic Rocks - No Swimming Area

Due to the increase in the number of incidents in the Picnic Rocks area, the Marquette City Fire Department would like to remind all residents and visitors that it is prohibited to swim past the “No Swimming” signs and buoys or out to the Picnic Rocks. Doing so is a violation of Section 52-34. - Conduct on Beaches. This may result in a municipal civil infraction and is subject to enforcement procedures and penalties set forth in Section 52-37 of the Marquette City Code.

In recent days, the Marquette City Fire Department has made contact with several swimmers attempting to swim out to Picnic Rocks. The Picnic Rocks area is posted by signage and by buoys that state “No Swimming”

The Fire Department would like to also remind all watercraft that it is prohibited to operate within 200 yards of any designated city beach.
