Opening Receptions for PWPL and Deo Galleries

On Thursday, February 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Peter White Public Library and the City of Marquette Office of Arts and Culture will be hosting the opening receptions for the three art galleries located at the library. The Deo Gallery is part of the City’s Arts & Culture Center, located in the lower level of PWPL; it is curated monthly by the Lake Superior Art Association. The Deo Gallery’s exhibit will be up through March 1. The library galleries’ exhibits will be up until April 1. Receptions are free and open to the public. Masks are required.

The Deo Gallery: Christine Saari, LOOKING BACK (Photographs 1972-2015)
LOOKING BACK is comprised of black & white and color darkroom photographs.
Artist Talk at 7 p.m.

Street Closures for Noquemanon Ski Marathon

The following streets will be closed on Saturday, January 22nd from 3:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the Noquemanon Ski Marathon.

  1. Hawley Street, from Presque Isle Avenue to Lakeshore Boulevard.
  2. Wright Street, from Presque Isle Avenue to Lakeshore Boulevard.
  3. Schneider Mill Court, from River Park Circle to end of Schneider Mill Court.
  4. Powder Mill Road, from Wright Street to end of Powder Mill Road.

The detour route to access Lakeshore Boulevard from Hawley Street and Wright Street will be Presque Isle Avenue south to Fair Avenue, then Fair Avenue east to Lakeshore Boulevard.

Marquette Arts and Culture Advisory Committee Meeting

The Marquette Arts and Culture Advisory Committee will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, Jan. 13 beginning at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be in-person at the Arts and Culture Center located in the lower level of Peter White Public Library, 217 N. Front Street in Marquette.

Public Participation

There will be one public comment period for the meeting at the beginning of the agenda. Comments are limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address before speaking.

Written comments will be presented to the Committee during the meeting and can be submitted by emailing tmorin@marquettemi.gov. Written submissions will be accepted until 5pm on Thursday January 13.
