Public Gallery Program - High School Art Exhibits

The Public Gallery Program, a partnership between the City of Marquette Office of Arts and Culture and the Peter White Public Library, presents two exhibits during the month of May featuring artwork by high school students.

Deo Gallery – City operated, located in the City Arts and Culture Center on the lower level
The High School Art Show features over one hundred local student artists from Marquette Senior High School, Negaunee High School, Ishpeming High School, Northstar Academy, and Gwinn High School. This vibrant exhibit offers all different types of art styles and mediums, including ceramics, acrylics, portraits, pencil drawings, and watercolor. The exhibit will also highlight the artwork of students participating in the city led Artists in Excellence program.

Huron Mountain Club Gallery and Lower Level Lobby – Operated by PWPL

The LIVE Art and Word exhibit showcases entries to the U.P.-wide contest held annually by West End Suicide Prevention that asks high school students to create art inspired by the theme “Mental Health Awareness”. An overall Grand Prize and first and second places are awarded in three categories, Visual Art, Written Word, Song/Dance/Theater.

A joint reception will be held on Thursday May 11, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided and general public are welcome to this free community event. Awards and Artists talks will occur at 6:30 p.m. in the Deo Gallery and 7:00 p.m. in the Huron Mountain Club Gallery.
