On Thursday July 11, College Ave, between Northrup St. and 8th St. will be closed for a sanitary lateral repair. The project will begin at 7:00 a.m. and is expected to be completed by the end of the day.
The offices of the Marquette Board of Light & Power will be closed on Thursday, July 4ᵗʰ & Friday, July 5 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, July 10 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Shiras Room, on the top level of Peter White Public Library (Front Street side). The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.
The Marquette Area Wastewater Treatment Facility Advisory Board (MAWTAB) meeting for July 18, 2024 has been postponed. The meeting will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024, 10 a.m., at the Marquette Area Wastewater Treatment Plant.
On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, the Commons Parking Lot will be closed for sweeping and line striping. Overnight Permit parkers are asked to park in the South Main Lot or Upper Bluff Ramp overnight on Monday July 8th , as the work will begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday. Please plan accordingly.
The Marquette City Planning Commission meeting originally scheduled for July 2, 2024, has been canceled due to lack of business. The next schedule meeting is July 16, 2024
Beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 4th, Washington Street from McClellan Avenue to Third Street and Third Street from Washington Street to Baraga Avenue will be closed to through traffic to hold the annual Fourth of July Parade. Third and Washington Streets are scheduled to re-open as soon as the parade is completed. McClellan Avenue from Baraga Avenue to Ridge Street and Baraga Avenue west of McClellan Avenue will be closed for parade staging starting at 10:30 a.m. These areas will open to traffic as soon as the parade is completed. North Front Street will remain open as an emergency vehicle route.
The Presque Isle Park time capsule will be opened on Thursday, July 4 at the Marquette Regional History Center, 145 W Spring Street, Marquette. The opening and examination will be immediately following the Independence Day parade in Marquette.
The large time capsule will be unearthed from its burial location in Presque Isle Park and delivered to the Marquette Regional History Center prior to the date.
The public is invited to the History Center to view the contents on July 4. The contents will be examined and placed on display at the History Center for several weeks following the opening.
The City of Marquette Household Rubbish site, located at 1415 Pioneer Road, will be closed on Saturday, July 6, 2024. The site will reopen on Monday July 8 at 3:00 p.m.
