New Art Exhibits and Opening Reception Event

Peter White Public Library galleries welcome new exhibits for the months of April through May. On Thursday April 10, 6:00-8:00 p.m., the Peter White Public Library and the City of Marquette Office of Arts and Culture invite the community to an evening of art and community connection. The reception features light refreshments, artist talks, and various art activities. Receptions are free and open to the public. Exhibits are accessible during regular Library hours and will be on display through the end of May.

EXHIBITS:

Huron Mountain Club Gallery (Main floor): Patterns of Connection by Knot Work Studio Multiple Mediums – A showcase of “collective effervescence”, Knot Work Studiois a creative collective that encourages an "anti-excellence" mindset, where artists, writers, and makers can embrace the creative process without the pressure of perfectionism. Artist Talk begins at 6:30 p.m.


Deo Gallery (Lower Level):What Makes You, You? by Artists in Excellence Students
Multiple Mediums
- AIE is a cross district program that provides unique art-based extracurricular experiences for students from Negaunee, Marquette, Gwinn and Ishpeming High Schools. This exhibit will be on display for the month of April. Artist Talk begins at 7:00 p.m.

The Annual High School Art Show will be on display for the month of May and will feature a large body of work created by art students enrolled in Negaunee, Marquette, Gwinn and Ishpeming High Schools and North Star Academy.

Receptions are generously made possible by Friends of PWPL. The Huron Mountain Club Gallery is located on the main level of PWPL. The Deo Gallery is located in the lower level of the PWPL in the City’s Arts & Culture Center; it is supported by the Lake Superior Art Association.
