Winter tax bills totaling approximately $2.3 million dollars will be mailed to Marquette
City property owners on November 25, 2025. Tax collection begins December 1, 2025
and payments are accepted at the City Treasurer’s office without penalty through
February 14, 2026. A penalty of 3% is added to the winter tax bill on February 15, 2026.
On March 1, 2026, taxes are delinquent and are transferred to the County Treasurer for
collection. With both due dates falling on a weekend or holiday, payments will be
accepted in office the next business day.
The 2025 winter property tax bill represents millage levies for Marquette County Transit,
County Aging, County Medical Care Facility, County Dispatch, County Rescue, and
County Veterans’ Affairs.
The Marquette Downtown Development Authority will be making an informational presentation at the December 8, 2025 regular meeting of the Marquette City Commission. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Commission Chambers inside of Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Ave, Marquette, MI 49855. The purpose of this presentation is to inform the City Commissioners, taxing jurisdictions, and the general public of the Authority’s accomplishments of the past year and the goals and projects to be undertaken in the coming year.
Pursuant to Michigan Public Act 57 of 2018, this presentation will fulfill the first of two informational meeting requirements for the 2025 calendar year

City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will be closed November 26-28, in observance of Thanksgiving. Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities will remain operational during this time.
There will be no change in garbage pickup for City residents.
On Tuesday afternoon, November 18, 2025, the eastbound lane (southern side) of Pioneer Rd will be closed for construction activities at the natural gas access point just south of the Pioneer Rd and Altamont St intersection. A temporary 3-way, timed traffic signal will be installed to direct traffic from both directions on Pioneer Rd and from Altamont St. Both streets will remain open to traffic during the lane closure.
The eastbound lane of Pioneer Rd is expected to reopen by Wednesday November 26, 2025.
The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.
The regular meeting of the City of Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board scheduled for November 19 has been canceled due to lack of business. The next meeting will be held on December 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, Marquette, MI. 49855.
The scenic loop at Presque Isle Park is now closed to vehicular traffic for the winter season following recent snowfall. The road will reopen in the spring.
Starting Monday, November 17, all City parks will operate under winter hours: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM daily
DECEMBER BOARD OF REVIEW SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 9, 2025 NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Review, City of Marquette will meet on December 9, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall, Council Chambers, 300 W. Baraga Ave, Marquette, MI for the following purposes.
1. An owner of property that is a "Principal Residence" on June 1 may appeal to the July Board of Review in the year for which an exemption was claimed or in the immediate succeeding 3 years if the exemption was not on the tax roll. MCL211.7cc(19)
2. Request for current year only for poverty exemptions, but not poverty exemptions denied by the March Board of Review.
3. Request for P.A. 161 of 2013 Disabled Veterans Exemption.
4. Correct clerical errors or mutual mistake of facts. All required forms and documentation shall be received five days prior to said meeting.
