The Marquette City Planning Commission meeting originally scheduled for November 18, 2025 has been canceled due to a lack of business
Due to recent snowfall delaying the completion of construction at the Tourist Park day use area, the off-leash dog park at Tourist Park Campground will remain closed until Wednesday, November 26. Additionally, the Power Mill Road entrance to the Tourist Park Campground (off of Sugarloaf Avenue) continues to be closed to all traffic, including vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians.
This continued closure is necessary to protect both dogs and visitors from hazards associated with the construction.
To make up for the delayed opening, the off-leash dog park season will be extended through May 15, 2026.
The City of Marquette’s rubbish and compost drop-off sites are closing for the season.
The last day to use the rubbish site is Saturday, November 8. It will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The last day to use the compost site is Tuesday, November 11. It will be open from 3 p.m. to dusk.
The sites will reopen in the spring, and a new schedule will be posted at that time.
Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, November 12, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Shiras Room, on the top level of Peter White Public Library (Front Street side). The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.
The regular meetings of the Marquette City Commission will be held on the following days in the months of November and December:
City Commission meetings are held in City Commission Chambers of City Hall, at 300 W. Baraga Ave., and begin at 6:00 p.m.
