The Board of Zoning Appeals regular meeting on November 6, 2025, has been canceled. The next scheduled meeting will be held on December 4, 2025.
The Marquette City Planning Commission meeting originally scheduled for October 21, 2025 has been canceled due to a lack of business.
Beginning Monday, October 20, Oberstar Inc. will be closing McClellan Avenue between Fair Avenue and Wright Street. A signed detour route will be provided around the closure using Fair Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, and Wright Street.
Truck traffic is advised to utilize US-41 and Wright Street as a preferred detour route.
The closure is required for utility service installation for the McClellan Habitat for Humanity Homes project. The closure is anticipated to last one week during which time access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
The public is advised to take caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signage.
As fall brush and leaf cleanup preparations begin, please do not place leaves in the road or along the curb line. This causes leaves to collect in the storm drains and creates flooding in the streets. This sediment is also entering the storm drain system with the potential of plugging the storm water main.
Leaves must be placed behind the curb line, not in the street. Residents not complying will be in violation of Section 38-22(c) of the Marquette City Code. We are also reminding motorists to avoid parking in positions that block access to leaf piles, or they will not be picked up.
The schedule is as follows:
Brush Collection: October 27 - 31
Leaf Collection: November 3 - 14

The City of Marquette has made available public education materials with information about lead and drinking water. These materials are displayed in City Hall and are also available online at www.marquettemi.gov/LCRPE2025.
This notice is being issued in compliance with state requirements, following water sampling conducted earlier this year. The City regularly tests residential tap water for lead and copper as part of its standard water quality monitoring program. During this summer’s sampling, 6 of 32 homes tested showed lead levels above the state’s Action Level.
Marquette has no known lead in the city’s water mains or service lines. In some homes, however, lead may be present in interior plumbing, fixtures, or solder. The City’s water supply is treated with corrosion control measures designed to minimize lead leaching.
The public education materials, which provide guidance on reducing potential exposure to lead, are available at www.marquettemi.gov/LCRPE2025. Additional information about Marquette’s water system and water quality testing can be found online at www.marquettemi.gov/departments/public-works/water-distribution.
