City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will be closed on Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday. Winter Parking Ban Extended

Due to the near record snowfall, the city has experienced this year, there is very little room for snow to be plowed or piled safely. City crews continue to remove snow from roadways and sidewalks for the safety of drivers and pedestrians.

Therefore, it is necessary that the Winter Parking Ban be extended from Wednesday, April 1, 2026, until Wednesday, April 15, 2026. This extension will help Public Works crews work safely and more efficiently in the event we receive further snowfall.

The hours of enforcement for the Winter Parking Ban are 1:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. daily.

Pine Street Closure for Shamrock Sprint

Queen City Running Company will be holding a one mile running race on Pine Street between Ridge Street and Lakeshore Boulevard on Thursday March 26. Runners will begin lining up at the start at 5:55 p.m. and the race will start at 6:00 p.m.

The race will be led by a police vehicle and Pine Street will be briefly closed to traffic while the race passes through. Volunteers will be stationed at each intersection on the course and police will be directing traffic at Pine Street and Lakeshore Boulevard. Pine Street will be reopened to traffic as the race passes through. The overall closure time is expected to be less than 20 minutes. Ridge Street will remain open to traffic.

Motorists are asked to take caution when traveling in the area.

Cinder Pond Marina

Cinder Pond Marina has sustained significant damage from the ice and wind from multiple storms this winter. More recently, the blizzard that occurred March 15 and 16 damaged piers 2 & 3, and they will require extensive repairs.

City staff are working with the dock manufacturer to assess the docks and plan repairs for the 2026 season. Due to this damage, lingering ice pack and uncertainty regarding the weather, the season may be delayed.

Slip holders will still need to renew their slips before the April 15 deadline. If the season is delayed, slip holders will be refunded for the duration of the closure following the same policy as enforced in previous years.
