The City of Marquette’s official Park hours go into effect on Monday, May 26. The city parks hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily. There is no camping or overnight parking allowed in any city park. As of Monday, May 26, the road around Presque Isle will be closed for walking hours on the following days and times:• Monday and Wednesday: 6:00 p.m. to close• Tuesday and Thursday: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.• Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m
The Compost drop-off site located at 1415 Pioneer Rd. will be closed Saturday, May 24 and the Household Rubbish site will be closed Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. The Compost site will reopen Tuesday, May 27, 3-7:00 p.m. and the Household Rubbish site will reopen Wednesday, May 28, 3-7:00 p.m. (or when capacity is met).
Due to the Memorial Day holiday, the upcoming regular meeting of the Marquette City Commission will be held on Tuesday, May 27. The meeting will take place in City Commission Chambers at City Hall, and is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
As a reminder, most City offices will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.
City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will be moving to summer hours beginning Monday, June 2, 2025. Summer hours will continue through Labor Day.

Beginning on Monday, May 12, 2025 various streets in the City of Marquette will experience traffic disruptions due to crack sealing activities by Fahrner Asphalt Sealers. The public is advised to be aware of all flagging and traffic control devices and to use caution when traveling through areas requiring this process. It is anticipated that this work will be completed within two weeks.
Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Shiras Room, on the top level of Peter White Public Library (Front Street side). The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.
