JULY 9, 2024 – COMMONS PARKING LOT CLOSED

On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, the Commons Parking Lot will be closed for sweeping and line striping. Overnight Permit parkers are asked to park in the South Main Lot or Upper Bluff Ramp overnight on Monday July 8th , as the work will begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday. Please plan accordingly.

Fourth of July Parade

Beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 4th, Washington Street from McClellan Avenue to Third Street and Third Street from Washington Street to Baraga Avenue will be closed to through traffic to hold the annual Fourth of July Parade. Third and Washington Streets are scheduled to re-open as soon as the parade is completed.
McClellan Avenue from Baraga Avenue to Ridge Street and Baraga Avenue west of McClellan Avenue will be closed for parade staging starting at 10:30 a.m. These areas will open to traffic as soon as the parade is completed.
North Front Street will remain open as an emergency vehicle route.

Presque Isle Park Time Capsule

The Presque Isle Park time capsule will be opened on Thursday, July 4 at the Marquette Regional History Center, 145 W Spring Street, Marquette.  The opening and examination will be immediately following the Independence Day parade in Marquette. 

The large time capsule will be unearthed from its burial location in Presque Isle Park and delivered to the Marquette Regional History Center prior to the date. 

The public is invited to the History Center to view the contents on July 4.  The contents will be examined and placed on display at the History Center for several weeks following the opening.  

City of Marquette Offices Closed in Observance of Independence Day

City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; the Arts and Culture Center, 217 N. Front St. (in the Peter White Public Library); and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will be closed July 4-5 in observance of Independence Day. Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities will remain operational during this time.
There will be no change in garbage pickup for City residents.

Partial Road Closure on Grant and Rublein

Grant Ave. will be closed to through traffic from McClellan Ave. to Hancock St. starting on Tuesday June 11, 2024. In addition, Rublein St. will be closed from W. Ridge St. to Grant Ave. due to a water main valve repair. The streets will remain closed until 3 p.m. on Wednesday June 12.

Presque Isle Ave. Closure - Kaye to College

On Saturday June 15, 2024, Presque Isle Avenue between Kaye Avenue and College Avenue will be closed to traffic for the Care Clinic “Walking with Families Event” from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Traffic will be detoured via Kaye Avenue, Third Street and College Avenue.

Motorists are asked to take caution when travelling in the area.
