Harley Owner Group Rally - Traffic Disruptions

Third Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between Washington Street and Spring Street on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for the Great Lakes Harley Owners Group Rally at the Marquette Commons. A signed detour route will be provided around the closure.

On Saturday, June 28, 2025, the Harley Owners Group will be holding a motorcycle procession starting at 1:30 p.m. The route will begin at the NMU Berry Event Center parking lot, head south on Pine Street to Fair Avenue, west on Fair Avenue to Presque Isle Avenue, south on Presque Isle Avenue continuing onto Fourth Street, Fourth Street to Baraga Avenue, east on Baraga Avenue to Lakeshore Boulevard, north on Lakeshore Boulevard to Fair Avenue, west on Fair Avenue to Pine Street and returning to the start. The group will have a police escort, and minor delays may be experienced along their route, however no roads will be closed.

Police-Fire Pension Board Meeting Rescheduled

The Police-Fire Pension Board meeting scheduled for June 24, 2025 has been rescheduled due to lack of quorum. The meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, June 26, 2025. The meeting will be held in the Finance Conference Room at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall, 300 West Baraga Ave., Marquette, MI 49855

Daytime Solid Waste Collection

Starting this week, Waste Management is implementing daytime solid waste collection. This means that carts may be picked up between 10pm on your collection night and midafternoon the following day.

Residents should continue to put out their carts by 10pm on their usual collection night. The day of the week and time that residents are putting out their carts will not change.

Currently there is no change to parking. Information will be coming in the following weeks about potential changes to parking.

The City of Marquette’s 2024 Water Quality Report has been published and is available for viewing on the City of Marquette’s website at www.marquettemi.gov/municipalutilities. To receive a paper copy in the mail, email water@marquettemi.gov or call 906- 225-8382.

Fire Hydrant Flushing

The City of Marquette’s Water Department will begin dead-end fire hydrant flushing and checking valves throughout the city. Residents may experience a brief period of discolored water or low pressure. If discoloration happens, please run cold water for 5 to 10 minutes or until it is clear.
