A Special Meeting of the Marquette Board of Light and Power has been scheduled for Thursday, April 28 at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the main office of the Marquette Board of Light and Power at 2200 Wright St, Marquette, MI 49855.

Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, work will begin on a Coastal Restoration project located near the intersection of Lakeshore Boulevard and Pine Street.

This project includes removal of portions of the abandoned Lakeshore Boulevard roadway, dune restoration, coastal wetland construction, enhanced public beach access and a variety of native coastal plantings.  The project is expected to be completed by mid-June.

The roadways and multi-use path located near the project will remain open throughout the duration of the project with the exception of short-term disruptions to load and unload materials and equipment.

Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022, work will begin on a City-wide sidewalk repair and extension project. 

This project will include replacement of various sidewalk squares throughout the City along with an extension of sidewalk on the south side of Wright Street between the Lakeshore Boulevard Roundabout and Presque Isle Avenue.  The project is expected to last two weeks.

A lane shift will be utilized for the Wright Street sidewalk extension portion of this project.  The traveling public should experience minimal disruptions at all other locations.  Sidewalk removal areas will be clearly marked with construction cones to warn pedestrians.

Beginning at 8:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 20^th, 2022 Fisher St between

S 4^th St and S 5^th St will be closed. A detour will be set up during the closure utilizing Rock St.   

The maintenance project is estimated to last approximately 3 days and will only be closed during 8 A.M. and 4 P.M..  For your safety and the safety of our employees and contractors, please do not approach crews while they are working.  The tasks that they perform put them near energized equipment where the outmost focus and concentration is necessary.

We understand that our activities may cause an inconvenience and want to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation while we perform these modifications and upgrades.

The 300 block of Rock Street will be closed to through traffic for tree maintenance on Tuesday, April 19, beginning at 8:00 a.m. This project is in collaboration with the Marquette Board of Light and Power. It is expected to be completed by the end of the day.

The 500 block of E. Ridge Street will be closed to through traffic for tree maintenance on Wednesday, April 20, beginning at 8:00 a.m. This project is in collaboration with the Marquette Board of Light and Power. It is expected to be completed Thursday, April 21, by the end of the day.

The regular meeting of the Fire & Police Pension Board scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, has been canceled.

The Marquette Board of Light and Power Board will be holding a working session on Wednesday, May 4, at 5:30 p.m. The topic of discussion will be the property at 400 E. Hampton St. (former site of the Shiras Steam Plant.) The meeting will be held at the main office of the Marquette Board of Light & Power, 2200 Wright St, Marquette, MI 49855.
