City Parks Summer Hours

The City of Marquette’s official Park hours go into effect on Monday, May 22.  The city parks hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily.  There is no camping or overnight parking allowed in any city park.

As of Monday, May 22, the road around Presque Isle will be closed to vehicular traffic for walking hours on the following days and times:

  • Monday and Wednesday:       6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday:           7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday:             7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Spring Street Closure

On Friday, May 19, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Spring Street will be closed between Third Street and Fourth Street for tree removal work. The street is anticipated to be reopened at 6:00 p.m.

The public is advised to take caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.   

Front Street Sidewalk and Southbound Lane Closure

Oberstar Inc. will be continuing demolition work at 214 South Front Street requiring sidewalk and street closures. The southbound lane of Front Street between Main Street and Spring Street will be closed to vehicular traffic during the day Monday, May 15. Southbound traffic will be detoured around the closure via Main Street, Third Street, and Baraga Avenue. Northbound traffic on Front Street will remain unaffected.

The public is advised to take caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.

Lincoln Ave Closure

Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023, Smith Construction Inc. will be closing Lincoln Avenue between Bluff Street and Jefferson Street for sewer service replacement work.  A signed detour will be provided routing traffic around the closure via Bluff Street, Rublein Street, Ridge Street, McClellan Avenue, and Cleveland Avenue. The street is anticipated to be reopened on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Residents within the closure area will receive information from Smith Construction regarding parking and driveway access.

This work is a part of the City’s annual Street Improvement Bituminous Paving and Lateral Replacement project and is a prerequisite for the resurfacing of the street. The public is urged to use extreme caution and follow all traffic control measures. Additional announcements will be made regarding the upcoming resurfacing activities.

Brule Road Closure

Brule Road will be closed to through traffic between Joliet Road and Allouez Road, due to a sanitary sewer main repair on Tuesday, May 9. This closure will begin at 7:00 a.m. and continue until the repair is completed. Estimated time of completion is the end of day on Tuesday, May 9.

Fourth Street and Lincoln Avenue Disruptions

Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023, Smith Construction Inc. will begin removing and replacing sections of curb on Fourth Street between Washington Street and Arch Street and Lincoln Avenue between Washington Street and Jefferson Street. Traffic will be maintained, however lane shifts, and flag control will be utilized.  

This work is a prerequisite for the resurfacing of these streets. The public is urged to use extreme caution and follow all traffic control measures. Additional announcements will be made regarding the upcoming resurfacing activities.

Presque Isle Park Loop Open

The Presque Isle Park loop (seasonal portion of Peter White Drive) will be open for the season on Friday, May 5, 2023.  However, Presque Isle Park will remain on winter hours, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. until further notice. 

The loop is closed to vehicular traffic during established walking hours:

Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Saturdays and Sundays, 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.
