Candidate Filings for City Commission and BLP Seats Due April 23

The Marquette City Clerk’s Office is now accepting nomination packets for city elective positions available in the upcoming election year. Interested candidates must submit their completed packets by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23.

This election cycle, voters will select two members for the Marquette Board of Light and Power and two commissioners for the Marquette City Commission. These positions will be contested in the Presidential Election on November 5, 2024.

Nominating documents, including petition forms, are available for collection at the City Clerk’s Office located at 300 W. Baraga Avenue. Alternatively, candidates may download the forms at www.marquettemi.gov/candidatefilings.

Per the eligibility requirements of the Marquette City Charter, each candidate must have been a registered voter of the City of Marquette for at least one year prior to filing and may not be in default to the City.
