Beginning March 25, 2025, the City of Marquette will require all boaters to obtain a launch permit to launch a boat at either Cinder Pond or Presque Isle Marinas.
Seasonal launch permits are now available for purchase at Lakeview Arena Parks & Recreation office, located at 401 E. Fair Avenue, the City of Marquette’s Treasurer’s office located at 300 W. Baraga Avenue. Seasonal launch permits will also be available at Cinder Pond Marina office beginning May 6, 2025. The cost is $70.00 per seasonal launch permit, and $20.00 for an additional launch permit (restrictions apply).
Daily launch permits are $7.00 and are available in the red launch boxes located at Cinder Pond and Presque Isle Marinas.
The 2025 Marinas Seasonal Slip Agreements have been mailed to the 2024 seasonal slip holders. Payments will be accepted beginning Tuesday, March 11, 2025 through April 15, 2025 at the Community Services Parks and Recreation Office located at Lakeview Arena.
Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Heritage Room, of the Peter White Public Library. The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.
The Tuesday, March 25 Marquette Housing Commission meeting has been canceled.
The City of Marquette’s draft Five-Year Parks and Recreation Master Plan is available for public review for 30 days prior to City Commission consideration. This document details plans for projects and improvements within the City of Marquette parks system and is required for grant funding opportunities.
A draft of the plan is available at www.marquettemi.gov and at the Parks and Recreation Office at Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue. Comments can be emailed to parks@marquettemi.gov with the subject “Parks and Recreation Master Plan Comments” or can be dropped off at the Parks and Recreation Office at Lakeview Arena.
Public Hearing Scheduled
A public hearing to consider adoption of the draft plan will be held in City Commission Chambers at City Hall, 300 West Baraga Avenue at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025. Any person wishing to comment on the proposed plan may do so at that time. Written comments may be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office prior to the hearings.

If you feel you qualify for a poverty exemption on your property taxes, guidelines and applications are available at 300 West Baraga Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855. Applications must be filed with the Assessor BEFORE the MONDAY, MARCH 10, 2025 Board of Review Meeting. Any exemption granted will only apply to 2025 property taxes.

Beginning Monday, February 24, through Thursday, February 27, the Marquette Board of Light and Power will be conducting utility line clearance on the south side of Tourist Park Campground. Dog park users are asked to exercise caution while in the area. For your safety and the safety of employees and contractors, please do not approach crews while they are working. The tasks that they perform put them near energized equipment where the outmost focus and concentration is necessary
